Psychofest organized at Multani Mal Modi College

The Department of Psychology, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organized Psycho- fest which was focused at investigating the prevalence and probability of depression among students and faculty members. During this fest Depression Inventory with multiple options were used for assessment and profiling the depression of the respondents.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar addressed the participating students and said that according to latest data of WHO five percent of the adults suffer from the depression and it is a globally prevalent disorder among all communities. He said that the depression results from a complex interaction of social, physiological and biological factors which should be assessed.
Vice-principal of the college Prof. Jasvir Kaur motivated the students to develop a positive attitude towards life and career.
Prof.Gurpreet Kaur, Assistant professor, Department of Psychology said that we are providing practical training to the students for conducting such psychometric testing and to study the human behaviors with scientific tools and research methodology which will help in their professional growth and learning in the long run. She told that proper counseling and medication is must for treatment of depression.
In this event 140 students and 20 teachers were tested and their results were prepared by the students of the Psychology Department. The counseling based on the results was also provided according to requirements. In this event Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Head, Punjabi Department, Prof. Jagjot Singh, Department of Sociology, Dr. Gurjeet Kaur, Department of Political Science and Dr. Gurveen Kaur, Department of Public Administration.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਸਾਈਕੋਫੈਸਟ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਬਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿਪਰੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨ ‘ਤੇ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਫੈਸਟ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉੱਤਰਦਾਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਲਾਂਕਣ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫਾਈਲਿੰਗ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਲਪਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨਾਵਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਡਿਪਰੈਸ਼ਨ ਇਨਵੈਂਟਰੀ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿਹਤ ਤੇ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਦੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਡਬਲਿਊ. ਐਚ.ਓ ਦੇ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਅੰਕੜਿਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜ ਫੀਸਦੀ ਬਾਲਗ ਡਿਪਰੈਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਪੀੜਤ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਲੱਗਭੱਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਡਿਪਰੈਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰ, ਉਦਾਸੀ, ਸਮਾਜਿਕ, ਸਰੀਰਕ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵ-ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਕਾਰਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਗੁੰਝਲਦਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਮੁਲਾਂਕਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਜਸਵੀਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਰੀਅਰ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਨਜ਼ਰੀਆ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਟੈਸਟ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਖੋਜ-ਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਵਿਵਹਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਿਹਾਰਕ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇਗੀ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਡਿਪਰੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਜ ਲਈ ਉਚਿਤ ਕਾਊਂਸਲਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਦਵਾਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ 140 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ 20 ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਲਾਂਕਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਲੋੜਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਨਤੀਜਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਅਧਾਰਤ ਕਾਉਂਸਲਿੰਗ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ: ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ, ਮੁਖੀ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਗਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸਮਾਜ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਡਾ: ਗੁਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਵੀਨ ਕੌਰ, ਲੋਕ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਸਨ।
